Into the wild
It’s true. Camping is not for everyone. The spirit of spending your night in a tent, falling asleep to the tap of breeze on your camp walls is unexplainable. But it is also probably the less convenient mode of stay.
A lot of properties across Kerala offer camping experiences for people. Valparai, Parambikulam, Nelliampathy, Thattekad, Ponmudi, etc. are the less commercial camping spots in the state, apart from the very well known locations like Munnar, Thekkady, Vagamon, and Wayanad.
Most camps have tents, beds and other essentials that are already in place before the travellers arrive. We have well-set camping spaces in Munnar with toilets and big tents that one could stand in. On the other hand, there are also facilities where you can carry your own tent, food and essentials and have a proper tenting experience.
Fixing up a fire and cooking your own food, even fishing and picking wild fruits are part of such camping trips. Food is usually light, cooked near the camping space. So it’s better not to have too many expectations.
Your camping experience is also highly dependent on the weather. It’s always better to go camping in the summers, but an unexpected rain could send your whole plan down the drain. Always carry warm clothes, mosquito repellants and any emergency medicines, because camping facilities are usually in the interiors of hills and shallow forests.
If you are in love with the wild, or a true backpacker at heart, nothing would win your heart more than a night at the camp.
