Own A Private Island

An Island of Isolated Natural Luxury

  • It is a private island – and you and your loved ones are the only souls on it. Other than a couple of dogs, a cat, guinea fowls and hens.
  • Privacy, privacy and more privacy.
  • The Lake is like a mega-size private pool.
  • There’s never a dull moment with nothing much really to do except watch the birds, catch some fishes and the occasional wave hello to a fisherman on his boat.
  • Food is completely organic and absolutely tasty (Oh, the magic of Kerala Cuisine – rich and spicy!).
  • There’s no TV, no newspapers, no Internet, just a phone to reach you (if at all, in an emergency).

Escape to an Island of Exclusive Luxury

You take a canoe ride to a remote island on Asthamudi Lake at Kollam in Kerala State. Here you are by yourselves for 2 days and 3 nights – or as long as you like. Only the cooks and caretakers are there to look after you. You get served delicious organic food and fresh-water fish netted right out of the lake. This is an escapade you can only dream of. Or you can come to Vini’s Farm.

You may have been to resorts and hotels around the world where the sameness of the experiences may have bored you to hell. Now here’s the ultimate in out-of-the-box experience that pampers you and invites you to live life king-size. You get the most fantastically beautiful setting, absolute freedom to be yourselves with no other guests to pester you – you are the only people on the island – and enjoy the best water-sports, plus enjoy 100% organic food.

You land at the Thiruvananthapuram Airport – or the Kochi International Airport if you prefer, to get picked by chauffeured car and taken to Kollam. From there, you take the canoe to the private island. Activity includes visiting neighboring villages which take you back to a lifestyle reminiscent of nearly a couple of decades back. Here you can witness the process of coir being retted, coir fibers being woven into ropes and beautiful carpets.

You can go fishing with the local fishermen, feed the prawns at prawn farms, watch migratory birds and get to know them intimately. You can also boat along the winding lake, witnessing the life on the banks, passing mangrove shoals and delicately wondrous micro islands of Pathupara.

If you are there at the right time of the year, you can witness the Kallada Snake Boat Race, even join one of the boats to row! You can go Kayaking, learn a few steps of Kathakali, zoom around in a speed boat, get an Ayurveda massage or learn advanced Yoga.

Every evening is a spectacular sunset time. You can go out on a sunset cruise on a “Vallam” (tiny country boat) or on a massive Kettuvallam (modified rice-boat). While away the night basking in moonshine. Go on countryside walks and when you see the toddy tapper, pester him to give you a taste of fresh and heady coconut nectar. For those who trip on bird watching, Vini’s farm is paradise. You can watch closely kingfishers, woodpeckers, egrets, cormorants, herons, crows, pheasants, snakebirds, teals and more.
